What to ask after the wreckage

by You Have My Word

The fourth poem of a challenge to write thirty, in thirty days.

—–

There are some things you know
better than to ask questions about.
The stain in the bathroom stall.
The naked boy at the traffic light.
The pyramid of beer cans.
The burn hole in the bathroom mat.
The reason she’s still with him.
The tie on the door.
The ring on her finger.
The ring on her wrist.
The wrung ring on her wrist.
The ripe wrung ring on her wrist.
The raw ripe wrung ring on her wrist.
The reminder raw ripe wrung ring on her wrist.
The rape.
The wreckage.
The ruins.
The remnant.
The remains.

There are none;
so ask your questions.
